Essaouira "Second Beach"

Located just 15 minutes south of the city, this beach is a true escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. On your way, you'll pass by a village famously visited by Jimi Hendrix in the 60s and a 400-year-old Sultan castle that is now almost entirely covered in sand. From here, you'll be able to enjoy panoramic views of Essaouira, the river Oued Ksob, and Mogador Island. This quiet beach is home to many birds, including the rare Eleanora’s falcon, and offers great surfing conditions for all levels - from beginners to advanced surfers. You'll have plenty of space to relax on the sand and catch some waves without the crowds of the city beaches.

Safi Beach, situated on the other side of Essaouira, is a great spot for intermediate and advanced surfers, featuring two different breaks. The first one, located on the left side of the beach, breaks in front of an abandoned factory at the beginning of the beach. The second one, further north, is the main beach with left and right breaks. It is important to note that Safi Beach has both sand and rock bottoms, which can be tricky, so caution is advised. The best time to surf at Safi Beach is from mid to high tide.
The Cave/La Grotte

The Cave/La Grotte is a must-visit spot for experienced surfers looking for a challenge. It's known for having the biggest waves in the Essaouira area and is located approximately 10 miles from the city on the road to Sidi Kaouki. Even when other spots are experiencing poor surf conditions due to high winds and swells, you can still find great waves here. To access this spot, it's best to have a 4WD, but you can also park near the Cap Sim Lighthouse and walk to the little village where the spot is located. It's important to note that this spot is recommended for experienced surfers only.

Sidi Kaouki is a beautiful beach located about 14 miles south of Essaouira. The beach has a long stretch of golden sand and is known for its consistent surf breaks. The waves are generally mellow and best for beginners and intermediate surfers, but can also offer some challenging rides for more advanced surfers on bigger swells. The surf is best when the wind is light and the tide is high. Sidi Kaouki is also a great spot for other water activities like kitesurfing and windsurfing.

Tafadna is a picturesque fishing village located on Morocco's west coast, just south of Essaouira. The village is nestled in the argan hills and below 'Cap Tafelney', providing a beautiful and tranquil environment for surfing.
Tafadna offers three surf breaks, typically with only a few surfers in the water. In addition, there is another break that occurs on a shallow reef about one kilometer offshore. The long sandy beach and gentle waves make Tafadna a great spot for beginner and intermediate surfers, while more experienced surfers can challenge themselves on the offshore reef break.

Imessouane in Morocco offers great surfing experiences for all levels of surfers with two main spots to choose from: The Cathedral and The Bay.
The Cathedral offers a beach break with several right and left peaks that ends on a reef providing a perfect left-handed break. It is best to surf at high tide or mid-high tide when the swell is less than 5-6 feet, and at low tide when the swell is over 5 feet.
On the other hand, The Bay is the most popular spot in Imessouane, perfect for beginners due to its sandbanks. The surf here is best at low tide with a right-handed break that starts at the harbor and ends at the hills for a 600 meters ride.
